Mini-splits for The Woodlands
The Woodlands is known for its tall pines and larger two-story homes. Many of those homes have spaces the main system struggles to cool: an upstairs bonus room, a converted garage, or a pool house out back.
A ductless mini-split cools each of those spaces on its own, with its own thermostat, and without running new ductwork through the attic.
Common projects in The Woodlands
- Upstairs bonus rooms that run hotter than the rest of the house
- Pool houses and cabanas that need cooling of their own
- Garages used as gyms, workshops or extra storage
- Multi-zone systems for homeowners who want room-by-room control
Planning around the pines
The tree canopy keeps a lot of homes shaded, but it also drops pollen and needles. When we install an outdoor unit, we look for a spot with good airflow that’s out of the heaviest needle drop. We also recommend a yearly cleaning so the coils and filters stay clear.

What a typical install looks like in The Woodlands
The visit starts outside. We look at the trees around the house and find a spot for the outdoor unit with good airflow, out from under the heaviest pine drop. Inside, we measure the room and check how it’s affected by the attic, windows and sun.
On install day, we mount the indoor unit, run the line set and drain line, set the outdoor unit on a pad or bracket, and connect the power. For pool houses and detached buildings, we plan the electrical run from the main house. Most single-zone installs take about a day, and we test everything before we leave.
Pine pollen season is hard on coils and filters, so we recommend a cleaning after spring each year. It keeps the system efficient and the air in the room fresh.
