Houston is our home base
Windsanity is based in Houston, so this is where our technicians spend most of their days. We know the heat, the humidity, and the homes, from 1920s bungalows in the Heights to slab ranch homes in Meyerland and new builds in Spring Branch.
Why Houston homes choose mini-splits
Plenty of Houston homes have one or two rooms the central AC never quite reaches: a converted garage, a back addition, an upstairs bedroom that runs ten degrees hotter than the rest of the house. A ductless mini-split cools that one space on its own, without new ductwork and without overworking the system you already have.
Older homes are another common fit. Many Heights and Montrose bungalows sit on pier-and-beam foundations with little room for ducts. A mini-split needs only a small hole in the wall for its line set, so the house keeps its character.
Built for Houston weather
Houston summers are as much about moisture as heat. We size each system so it runs long, steady cycles that dry the air instead of short bursts that leave rooms sticky.
Storm season matters too. In flood-prone areas, we mount outdoor units on wall brackets or raised pads, and we route line sets so they’re easy to service after a storm.
What we do around Houston
- New single-zone and multi-zone installs
- Repairs, tune-ups and error-code troubleshooting
- Garage, workshop and addition cooling
- Commercial spaces, from small offices to warehouses
What a typical install looks like in Houston
Every job starts with a visit. We measure the room, look at its windows and sun exposure, and find a spot for the outdoor unit that stays clear of standing water. In older Heights and Montrose homes, we also check how the walls are built and plan a clean path for the line set.
On install day, we mount the indoor unit, run the line set and drain line through a small hole in the wall, set the outdoor unit on a bracket or raised pad, and connect the power. Most single-zone installs take about a day. Before we leave, we test the system and show you how to use it, including dry mode for the muggiest days.
After that, a yearly tune-up keeps it running well through Houston’s long cooling season. We clean the filters, coils and drain line so the constant humidity doesn’t lead to clogs or musty smells.
