Mini-splits for Katy homes
Katy has grown fast, and a lot of that growth is two-story homes in master-planned communities. They look great, but many share the same problem: the upstairs game room or media room is always hotter than the rest of the house.
That’s usually not a broken AC. Upstairs rooms sit furthest from the air handler, collect the heat that rises through the house, and often sit right under a hot attic. A ductless mini-split solves it by giving that room its own cooling, on its own thermostat.
Common Katy projects
- Upstairs game rooms and media rooms that never cool down
- Garages turned into gyms, workshops or offices
- Additions and sunrooms that the original system was never sized for
- Whole-home multi-zone systems for families who want each room at its own temperature
Working within your HOA
Most Katy neighborhoods have HOA guidelines for outdoor equipment. We plan the outdoor unit’s placement and the line set route so the install looks clean and fits those guidelines, often on the side or back of the house.
Close to home
Katy is part of our Houston home base, so our technicians are nearby for installs, repairs and seasonal tune-ups.
What a typical install looks like in Katy
For an upstairs game room, we start by measuring the room and checking how much heat it picks up from the attic and the afternoon sun. Then we plan where the outdoor unit can go, usually on the side or back of the house, and how the line set will reach the second floor neatly.
On install day, we mount the indoor unit high on an exterior wall, run the line set down the outside of the house in a paintable cover, set the outdoor unit, and connect the power. Most single-zone installs take about a day. We test everything and show you how to set the room’s own schedule.
In new-construction neighborhoods, dust from nearby building sites can clog filters quickly, so we’ll show you how to rinse them. A yearly tune-up keeps the coils and drain line clean.
